Overview of Responsibilities
RubinBrown’s Internal Accounting Department is looking for a Director of Accounting to join our growing team. The Director of Accounting is a new leadership role responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting and treasury. The position offers the opportunity to be strategic and participate across business functions but will also require a detailed and thoughtful approach to accomplish the day-to-day tactical needs of the firm. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Director of Accounting plays a key role in supporting strategic decision-making by providing reliable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations:
- Oversee the management of the internal accounting department.
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Implementation and integration of firms acquired through mergers and acquisitions into RubinBrown.
- Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making.
- Assess, develop and prepare monthly financial packages distributed to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
- Work closely with the FP&A function to drive an accurate and insightful budget and forecasting process.
- Review and assess technology solutions for the internal accounting department. Lead efforts to streamline workflows and adopt best practices in accounting operations.
- Manage the revenue cycle process including working with partners to proactively monitor client collections and outstanding accounts receivables.
- Oversee the review and approval of vendor invoices and expense reports.
Treasury:
- Manage and approve daily treasury activities.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecast.
- Lead efforts to evaluate all treasury processes including the technology solutions and payment methods used for both outgoing and incoming transactions.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Assist with the annual renewal process for firm insurance policies.
- Act as the RubinBrown 401(k) Plan and Trust Administrator.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure data integrity.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field, CPA highly preferred
- Experience:
- 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a public accounting or professional services environment
- Demonstrated success in financial strategy, operations management, and team leadership
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations
- Proficiency in financial management systems and tools (e.g., ERP software)
- Leadership:
- Proven ability to influence and drive change at the executive level
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
