JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- System Programming: Design, develop, and implement control programs for building automation systems using industry-standard protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Customization: Collaborate with the engineering team to customize control strategies and user interfaces based on client requirements.
- Integration: Integrate various building systems, including HVAC, lighting, access control, and security, into a unified control platform.
- Testing and Commissioning: Conduct system testing, debugging, and commissioning to ensure proper operation and functionality.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of control programs, system configurations, and project records.
- Support: Provide technical support to clients, field technicians, and end-users for troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
- Upgrades and Maintenance: Implement system upgrades and software patches to keep the building automation systems up to date.
- Training: Conduct training sessions for end-users and technicians on system operation and maintenance.
- Compliance: Ensure systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and technologies, making recommendations for system improvements and enhancements.
SKILLS
- Proven experience in building automation programming, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in programming languages that are commonly used in building automation systems (e.g., Niagara 4 Framework/Tridium, Distech).
- Proficiency and understanding of Niagara 4 concepts such as templating, haystack tagging, and program services.
- Strong knowledge of industry-standard protocols and communication networks (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) and ability to integrate third-party devices.
- Experience with building automation software and hardware, including controllers, sensors, and actuators.
- Experience with IP based controllers and an understanding of networking concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of energy management and sustainability principles is a plus.
- Strong collaboration to work across multiple teams.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of proven service industry experience that is pertinent to the success of this role.
- Tridium Niagara 4 TCP certification (VykonPro class a benefit but not required).
- Distech certification recommended by not required.
