Business Development Specialist, Emergency Response Position Summary
The Business Development Specialist, Emergency Response is responsible for selling SMS services to State and Government organizations and contractors that manage Emergency Response work. These services include medical and safety oversight, support, staffing, and equipment for public and private clients. This individual will be responsible for identifying opportunities and fostering relationships within the emergency services realm.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
- Establish, build, and maintains business relationships that are key to sales for Emergency Response opportunities
- Implement a sales strategy that expands our Emergency Response Services to achieve and exceed revenue targets
- Develop strong rapport with State and Government agencies and key customer representatives by understanding their organizational needs, anticipating service needs, pro-actively providing solutions, and providing excellent customer service.
- Communicate with leadership, operations, sales, and support departments to ensure customer’s needs are achieved effectively and timely
- Assist with the RFP process
- Partner with new and current customers on existing business and future opportunities for additional services to ensure customer expectations are met
- Continually maintains strong cognizance of industry trends, competitive environment, and opportunities for growth and communicate to leadership and operations
- Assists operations with planning and preparation of customer appreciation events
- Represents SMS at industry related conferences, trade shows, and industry groups to promote and generate sales
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or similar field required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in business development and consultative sales roles
- Emergency Response experience is a must, CEM preferred
- Experience selling to State and Federal Government preferred
- Knowledgeable of State and Government contracts, regulations and procedures required
- Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively, in written and verbal forms, with employees, customers, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills required
- Position requires flexibility and acceptance with immediate/unscheduled business travel requirements, in some instances for extended days/weeks/months.
