SAGE Eldercare, a well-established community-based senior care organization that offers a comprehensive array of services to older adults and their caregivers, is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Development Manager to forward the mission and support the programs of SAGE Eldercare. The successful candidate must possess a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and approach their work with a strong sense of dedication to SAGE Eldercare.
The Development Manager will work closely with the Development Director to secure support for SAGE’s programs.
Strategic Planning:
- Assist in the management and execution of the annual development plan.
- Manage the planning and implementation of special event fundraisers.
- With the Director of Development and Communications, manage and execute the annual fundraising campaign, including developing a targeted strategy.
Donor Relations:
- Accurately process all gift (checks, cash, credit cards, securities, bank drafts, gifts-in-kind, matching gifts, and payroll deductions) and pledges from donors, corporations and foundations based on policies and procedures.
- Research, enter and maintain biographical information for all current and prospective donors, corporations, and foundations in fundraising CRM.
- Provide gift/pledge/payment customer service to donors, corporations, and foundations via telephone and email.
- Run reports and process gifts from multiple online giving systems.
- Oversee an efficient, timely gift acknowledgement process, thanking donors, corporations, and foundations consistently and meaningfully via various mediums
- Contribute to the successful retention and cultivation of donors, corporations, and foundations for SAGE, working cooperatively with leadership and trustees on strategy and targeting.
- In conjunction with Director of Development, plan and execute events designed as donor stewardship, corporate and community volunteer projects, and outreach including soliciting sponsors.
- Participate in other Development Department activities as needed, including administrative support.
Events Planning:
- Participate in the planning and establishment of goals and objectives for meetings, conferences, and/or events, with respect to budgets, speakers, facilities, technology, equipment, logistical requirements, and other related issues.
- Evaluates program/event histories, budget considerations, contractual provisions, and planning committee recommendations to determine requirements as to space, facilities, technology, equipment, lodging, catering, and on-site management.
- Serves as principal liaison between contractors, organizers, and staff with regards to all facets of the logistical operations support of multiple programs and events.
- Negotiates terms, executes, and administers multiple contracts with facilities vendors for services, in accordance with budget constraints.
- Participating in planning meeting, reviewing the details of events which he or she has been working on, answering questions from staff members, and discussing relevant logistical matters.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Business Administration, Non Profit Management, or Marketing, with three to four years of relevant work experience
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies
- Computer proficiency a must, in particular with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using donor database system, with knowledge of DonorPerfect, a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and high ability to meet deadlines
- Understanding the need to meet program income goals
- Knowledge of eldercare issues and prior experience in similar settings desirable
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Business Administration)
- Proven experience in fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit organization
- Strong knowledge of budgeting principles and financial management
- Familiarity with wills, trusts, estate law, and planned giving strategies
- Excellent research skills to identify potential funding sources
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for fundraising initiatives
- Experience in volunteer management and coordination
- Proficiency in using fundraising software, such as Constant Contact and Salesforce
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with donors and sponsors
