We are looking for a highly motivated HR Generalist/Office Manager (HI) to join our SageWater team based in Honolulu! The HR Generalist/Office Manager (HI), in coordination with the broader HR department, is accountable for conducting the local HR operations in Hawaii across multiple job sites (including recruiting, onboarding, HR-related tasks, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and providing support to employees on HR-related inquiries) and supporting broader organizational HR objectives; and, in coordination with local leadership, is accountable for supporting the general office environment and administrative duties within the Hawaii headquarters office.
This role requires a sincere commitment to SageWater’s organizational goals, growth, and presence in Hawaii, local travel, occasional travel by air or sea to Neighbor Islands or the mainland, and the demonstrated ability to support our diverse employee population and our dynamic work across multiple locations. This role is intended to be a full-time exempt position, based in Honolulu HI, with 5 days on-site per week Monday to Friday. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources on the Mainland and will work in close collaboration with the Mainland HR team, while coordinating closely with local leaders, and others, as required.
Key Responsibilities include:
Efficiently direct and administer local recruiting
Effectively administer the onboarding process and provide initial orientation and training
Support our amazing employees with questions about our benefits, payroll, or related issues
Maintain accurate employee files in SageWater’s HRIS
Effectively support in gathering and submitting accurate payroll data in a timely manner
Coordinate and administer training and developmental programs
Collaborate with the broader HR team to meet organizational goals and provide critical data and reports
Stay updated on employment laws, Federal and local
Provide office management and receptionist support

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of recent experience as a full-time HR generalist in Hawaii
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an office administrator or related position
Experience providing HR support to employees and operations across multiple locations simultaneously
Proven ability to provide collaborative HR guidance and support to supervisors
Demonstrated HR project management experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels
Demonstrated proficiency at working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment in a rapidly growing organization
Proficiency in HR management systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken
Thorough and current knowledge of US Federal and Hawaii labor laws and HR standards
Must be able to travel occasionally, including by air or sea
Must have valid driver’s license
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States
Preferred candidates will also have current HR certifications (HRCI or SHRM); proficiency in other languages; fluent Spanish; bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; and/or prior construction industry experience.
