Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practice sessions, including warm-ups, drills, and conditioning.
- Help in the development of training programs that enhance athletes' swimming skills, endurance, and competitive performance.
- Provide individual feedback and instruction to swimmers to help them improve their techniques and overall performance.
- Attend and support the team during swim meets, ensuring all athletes are prepared and motivated.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among athletes.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
- Monitor the health and safety of athletes during practices and meets, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist in organizing team events, fundraising activities, and community outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and progress of athletes.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other staff to create a cohesive and effective coaching strategy.
- Previous experience in competitive swimming, either as a swimmer or coach, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and competitive rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with young athletes and their families.
- Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Availability to work after school hours, including evenings and weekends during the swim season.
- A passion for youth sports and a commitment to fostering a positive team culture.
- Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
