Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training plan that enhances the swimming skills and overall fitness of student-athletes.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring they are engaging, productive, and safe.
- Prepare the team for competitions, including scheduling meets, coordinating transportation, and managing logistics.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes, coaches, and officials.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, expectations, and performance.
- Monitor and assess the progress of each athlete, providing feedback and guidance to help them improve.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations and policies.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and other relevant data.
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages participation and personal development.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with best practices in coaching and athlete development.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and competition rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season.
- A strong commitment to the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and competitions.
- A passion for swimming and a desire to help young athletes reach their full potential.
- A bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A background check will be required prior to employment.
