Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive physical education programs that align with state standards and school goals.
- Create lesson plans that encourage participation, skill development, and teamwork among students.
- Assess student performance and progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them improve.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, including sports teams and fitness clubs.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate physical education with other academic subjects.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and program initiatives.
- Stay current with developments in physical education, health, and wellness to enhance curriculum and teaching practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and accessible for all students.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification or license in Physical Education for secondary education.
- Previous experience teaching physical education at the middle school level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum, teaching strategies, and assessment methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Passion for promoting health, fitness, and well-being among students.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
