Job Description
As a City Delivery Specialist at Saia, you will drive freight between company terminals and customer facilities or work sites within a defined geographic area. Your primary goal will be to ensure freight is delivered in a claims-free and cost-efficient manner.
Major tasks and responsibilities include driving tractor trailers to deliver and pick up customer freight, sorting, handling, loading, and unloading freight at various company and customer locations, planning routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries and pickups, following established pre-trip, post-trip, freight handling, and billing procedures, conducting inspections by following established safety and quality control procedures, retaining and maintaining records, forms, and load-related paperwork, and serving as the first point-of-contact for delivery-related issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess a Class A commercial driver's license, a safe motor vehicle report and applicable endorsements, including hazmat, tankers, doubles, and triples, 1 years of tractor trailer driving experience, experience operating a forklift and pallet jack, and the ability to lift and move objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights.
