Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Facilities and Auxiliary Services. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Vice President of Facilities and Auxiliary Services will direct and perform a wide range of financial and operational functions related to physical plant and facilities, conference and events, campus mail center, dining services, campus bookstore, and ice arena.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, implement, administer, and evaluate the specific functions, systems, and services of all assigned areas of responsibility, including operating polices and processes. Develop and modify systems and services in accordance with institutional goals and objectives, as well as government regulations and other external conditions.
- Exercise full supervisory authority over the Director of Physical Plant, the Capital Project Manager, the Sullivan Ice Arena Manager, the Director of Conference and Events and the Campus Mail Center Supervisor; also oversee the campus dining services and bookstore operations (currently operated by outside vendors). Plan and coordinate workload, training, professional development; conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings; evaluate job performance and recommend salary increases; plan staffing and other resource needs.

Develops/modifies and implements operating policies and procedures for all assigned areas of responsibility and update and communicate regularly to departmental staff and campus community, as necessary; to include:
- Budget planning and control, variance reporting
- Internal controls (i.e. cash controls, daily operations)
- Purchase order/work order system
- Communication planning
- Financial modeling for auxiliary services (profit & loss model) and for facilities
- Identify benchmarks/standards.
- Oversee and manage the development of annual capital and operating budgets for all assigned areas of responsibility. Provide various reports to senior management.
- Oversee and manage new construction or major capital renovations for the College.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and the rules of accrediting bodies by maintaining operating programs and physical properties and initiate changes where required. Monitor and communicate key regulations and government requirements as it relates to assigned areas of responsibility (i.e. EPA standards, labor laws)
- Play a lead and/or advisory role in the strategic planning process for all assigned areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for investigating and resolving a wide range of issues in assigned areas.
- Oversee and carry out various projects as assigned by the Vice President, Finance and CFO.
- Confer regularly with the Vice President, Finance and CFO, other senior administrators, department heads and other College personnel to plan, coordinate and evaluate systems, policies, programs, exchange information, investigate and resolve problems. Serve on various College committees as requested. Attend and make presentations as requested to the Board of Trustees and/or committees of the Board.
- Represent the College to and interact with a variety of outside institutions, including vendors, contractors, consultants, members of the community, representatives of other institutions and others outside the College.
- Provide direct administrative and functional supervision of the Director of Physical Plant, Project Manager, Director of Conference and Event Services, Sullivan Ice Arena Manager, Campus Mail Center Supervisor, as well as oversight of Campus Bookstore and Dining Services vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration required, plus 8 to 10 years of relevant administrative and financial management experience, preferably in higher education, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or other appropriate advanced degree is preferred.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge related to all assigned areas of fiscal and business management, including budget management, financial analysis, implementation of policies and procedures and management controls, and various pertinent federal, state, and local laws.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; strong written communication skills; good public speaking and presentation skills; proficient negotiating skills; excellent organizational, administrative, and management skills.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Products, with a strong aptitude for MS Excel, and financial accounting software.
- Significant supervisory and personnel management experience, including experience evaluating supervisees and resolving personnel conflicts.
- Ability to represent the College to and interact effectively with a wide range of individuals and organizations inside and outside the College.
