What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Advancement for Schools (EX) (Current Opportunity - St John Regional Catholic School, Frederick MD position at Saint John Regional Catholic School?
The Advancement Director will primarily lead the development, planning, management, and coordination of fundraising, grant-writing, and various activities and events for the school. The Advancement Director also creates and enacts marketing and communication plans for the school. The Advancement Director’s supervisor is the Principal. The Principal may request that the Advancement Director assist other employees in the administrative team or in the school community.
Essential Functions
Constituent Relations
- Volunteer planning and management for key large-scale functions (i.e., Annual Appeal, Gala)
Development
- Plan, manage, and implement annual giving, and major gifts. This includes but is not limited to prospect identification and research, cultivation, solicitation, gift processing, acknowledgments, and stewardship.
- Research and apply for grants (data and essays) for the school. Secure and submit the required information, documentation, and reports to the granting agency.
Works to create a culture of philanthropy within the school.
Enrollment Management
- Responsible for collaborating with the Admissions Director for the planning, management, and implementation of the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students.
- Work closely with key volunteers and coordinate the external and internal marketing efforts and initiatives that attract and retain students in sufficient numbers to support the programs of the school.
- Assist with the enrollment plan, collect data, make projections, and generate ideas to increase enrollment.
- Governance, Strategic Planning, and Communications
- Promote understanding, acceptance, and support of the vision and mission statements, and objectives of the school
- Set priorities to meet annual goals.
- Responsible for setting and maintaining professional writing and design standards for school communications, including print and electronic communications (such as the school website and email).
- Work closely with the enrollment and development committees to assist with achieving the school’s goals and objectives.
Marketing
- Responsible for the promotion and marketing of the school to create awareness and grow enrollment. This responsibility includes but is not limited to market research, media planning, creation and execution of a strategic marketing plan using a diverse media mix, design and creation of marketing and admissions materials, as well as the production of the advertising creative (the ads), and public relations (seek publicity opportunities, social media, create/distribute press releases to local media highlighting school events and achievements).
Operations
- Database management: Oversee the management of databases as it relates to donors, alumni, enrollment management and development.
- Maintain a thorough record of donors, ensuring that donors receive appropriate, leveled recognition for their financial contributions.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, experience in a parochial or not-for-profit environment preferred.
- Experience in enrollment management, development, sales, marketing, and/or communications.
- Ability to appreciate and communicate a passion for Catholic elementary education
- Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in developing and accomplishing organizational goals.
- Superior communication skills, ability to conceptualize and execute strategic plans, the ability to interact confidently and effectively with school staff, students, donors, trustees, school administration, the media, and alumni.
Range: Starts at $65,000; Annualized (position may pay higher depending on experience)
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
