St. John Regional Catholic School is seeking candidates for a full-time Elementary Instructional Assistant. To provide active support to teachers in a classroom setting. This support can include grading assignments, preparing materials for class, leading small groups, and providing one-on-one assistance to students who may need additional help.
Essential Functions
The following list outlines the major responsibilities of the Assistant. As this list is not inclusive, the Assistant may be asked to perform additional duties assigned or requested by the administrators within the regularly scheduled hours. Assistants are expected to follow their job descriptions and the policies and procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook, the Family Handbook, and other documentation or communication.
Instructional Support
- Collaborate with educators during instructional time to enhance student learning.
- Foster a secure, structured classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Implement daily classroom routines to streamline educational activities.
- Work directly with students, individually or in small groups, or whole group instruction to reinforce lessons and provide additional support to those who need it.
- Attend and assist in special classes (pre-K 3 through grade 3).
- Guide students through their assignments, facilitating understanding and completion.
- Supervise student behavior during non-classroom times, such as, but not limited to, recess, lunch, breaks, transition times, hallways, assemblies, mass, classroom settings, and end-of-day.
Professional
- Maintain up-to-date professional credentials and stay informed about educational advancements.
- Adhere to all institutional guidelines as detailed in official handbooks and communications.
- Communicate effectively with school leadership and faculty, maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
Administrative
- Help with attendance, and other clerical duties to ensure the smooth operation of the classroom, such as but not limited to student attendance and managing lunch counts.
- Remain actively involved in supervisory duties throughout the school day to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials, ensuring resources are accessible for effective teaching.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as requested by the administrators or teachers.
Position Qualifications
- Minimum High School diploma and 90-hour childcare certification.
- Experience in a Catholic School setting.
- An appreciation for young students and their families.
- Must be an active practicing Catholic.

Range: $18.00, Hourly
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
