Description :
This position is for a surgical stepdown unit that includes two medical / surgical units.
One unit consists of 15 beds and another consists of 8 beds for surgical stepdown.
The facility operates over 400 beds with a specific focus on medical-surgical care.
Floating is required within the facility.
Rotating shifts are mandatory for day positions, covering mornings, mid-day, and night rotations.
Night positions are non-rotating.
The clinician must have experience in telemetry monitoring and be proficient in reading tele strips.
Skills required include the management of chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, epidurals, and capnography.
Preferred skills include the management of arterial lines and neo-synephrine.
Clinician-to-patient ratios are 3-5 patients per RN, with stepdown ratios being 2-3 per RN.
The patient population primarily includes post-operative care for surgeries such as general, gynecological, vascular, thoracic, urology, oral, plastics, and trauma.
The unit has a total of 23 beds, with the current census at full capacity.
The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
