Position: Pottery Teacher (Part-Time)
Location: Salt Lake Pottery Studio
Schedule: Flexible (evenings and weekends required)
Pay: $17 - $20 per Hour (depending on experience)

Salt Lake Pottery Studio is looking for a passionate Pottery Teacher to join our creative team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to teach pottery techniques to a variety of skill levels, from beginners to advanced students. You’ll inspire creativity, foster a love for pottery, and guide students through the process of making their own unique pieces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Pottery Classes: Teach hands-on pottery classes, demonstrating various techniques such as wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing, and firing. Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students at all levels.
• Student Engagement: Provide individual instruction and encouragement, creating a positive and supportive environment for students to learn and experiment.
• Classroom Management: Ensure that classes are run efficiently, keeping students engaged and the workspace safe, clean, and organized.
• Materials & Studio Maintenance: Help manage studio supplies, ensuring that students have the materials they need. Assist in maintaining the studio space and tools.
• Inspire Creativity: Encourage students to explore their artistic potential and express their creativity through pottery. Provide constructive feedback on their work and help them refine their skills.
• Safety & Best Practices: Ensure that students are using equipment and materials safely and following studio guidelines.
• Event & Workshop Support: Assist with special events or workshops as needed, providing additional support for group activities or private lessons.

Qualifications:

• Experience in Pottery: Proven experience in pottery, including wheel throwing, handbuilding, and glazing.
• Teaching Experience: Previous experience teaching pottery or working with groups is preferred. You should be comfortable instructing a wide range of students, from beginners to more experienced individuals.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain techniques clearly and engage students in the learning process.
• Creative & Patient: A passion for teaching and a patient, approachable demeanor to help students overcome challenges and discover their creative voice.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage class materials, keep the studio clean, and ensure all students have what they need for their projects.
• Safety Awareness: Understanding of studio safety procedures, including kiln operation, materials handling, and equipment usage.
