Summary

Performs technical work of an electrical engineering nature. Designs all electrical equipment for association deepwell and booster pumps. Coordinates construction of electrical equipment and its installation through oral and written communication involving job orders, proceed notices, purchase requests, letters and reports.

What You'll Do

  • Plans, schedules and directs work of electricians on water group electrical equipment; I.E. deepwell pumps, canal equipment and booster pumps.
  • Determines job and material requirements from blueprints and other documents; assigns workmen, materials and equipment.
  • Directs, checks and coordinates field construction and work in progress through NTP's/letters/memos/job orders/purchase req etc., to SRP and outside agencies.
  • Reviews, inspects and recommends construction and maintenance methods, procedures and materials to improve safety, efficiency and productivity.
  • Negotiates with SRP departments and outside agencies to plan work, procure materials and expedite construction.
  • Determines need and makes recommendations for retirement, replacement, and purchase of association electrical equipment.
  • Develops and/or reviews plans for groundwater facilities of an electrical engineering nature.
  • Creates bids, cost estimates and analysis of electrical engineering projects for groundwater.
  • Maintains engineering's drawings, updates as-built drawings as changes are made, maintains electrical fields and records.
  • Contacts vendors and SRP departments in order to improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve reliability of electrical equipment.
  • Investigates, studies and reports on economics and feasibility of electrical engineering projects originating from outside agencies.
  • Works on and with electronic equipment, including instructing on installation repair, calibration, etc.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Knowledge of electrical theory, electronic, electrical control relaying, blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronics problems in motors and controls.
  • Knowledge of national electric code.
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of electric motors, including hollow shaft and submersible.
  • Personal skills to work effectively with people and accomplish work though people not in direct line of supervision.
  • Knowledge of English language with ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to design electrical equipment suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of computer and data processing.

Experience

5 years of experience as an electrician, estimator, electrical draftsman, electronic technician, electrical technician.

Education

Minimum of 15 college credits (100 ) related to the position from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
