Tribal Outreach Coordinator
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Tribal Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of outreach and engagement with Tribal and other diverse communities.
Part-time, non-exempt: 18-21 hrs/week
Monday - Friday, some weekends and nights required.
Pay Rate: $24/hour
Qualifications:
- Extensive background of living in and/or working with Tribal communities
- Deep understanding of Tribal culture and histories in the Southern California region
- Ability to build lasting and meaningful relationship with Tribal members and communities and other diverse audiences often excluded from archaeology
- Working knowledge of archaeology
- Undergraduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Indigenous Studies, American Indian Studies, Museum Studies, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience in community engagement and collaboration
- Positive attitude and eagerness to contribute across all departments in a small team environment
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively under appropriate supervision
- Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, creativity, time management, and organizational skills
- Effective communicator with strong verbal and writing skills
- Proficient in MS Office

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Foster new collaborations and opportunities with Tribal and other diverse community partners
- Promote Tribal engagement with Center programs and services
- Participate in community outreach events
- Create and review content such as exhibits, newsletters, marketing materials, and social media posts
- Organize programs and opportunities for staff, Board, and community to promote understanding and appreciation of Tribal and diverse perspectives
- Foster a welcoming environment to all museum visitors and guests of outreach programs
- Work with all departments as needed for Center-wide and individual department projects including assisting with special events and programs
- Produce monthly and annual reports on activities and progress toward goals
- Assist with general upkeep of the facility and grounds as part of normal operations
- Other duties as assigned
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 18 – 21 per week
