The Water Resources Department The Water Resources Department is responsible for water supply planning, conservation and long-term facilities planning. The department also administers the Water Shortage and Drought Response Program; provides member agency assistance in local supply development; engages in regulatory advocacy and regulation development; administers the Water Purchase Agreement for the Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant; manages Water Authority involvement in the Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Plan and grants administration; and ensures environmental regulatory compliance of Water Authority programs and projects.The Supply Planning & Water Policy DivisionThe Supply Planning and Water Policy section focuses on evaluating reliable long-range water supplies necessary to meet forecasted demands for the San Diego region. In addition, this section addresses the added resource uncertainty associated with potential climate change impacts. The Assistant Water Resources Specialist performs routine and semi-routine professional planning and research work related to water demand, water availability, and other water resource management issues.The Assistant Water Resources Specialist in the Supply Planning & Water Policy Division is responsible for preparing water supply planning documents, tracking and analyzing water use data, assisting with development of water supply and demand forecasts, administering water delivery agreements, and managing the agricultural rate program.
