What are the responsibilities and job description for the Desktop Engineer position at San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance?
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
Under direction, the Desktop Engineer develops, maintains, and upgrades automated systems to enable department users to manage information; provides ongoing technical assistance for user problem resolution, and maintains existing hardware and software. This position reports to Lead Desktop Engineer.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Configuration and installation of desktop/laptop operating system and application specific software (i.e. MS Office, Gateway Ticketing, Timeline, terminal emulation, etc.) and Computer Peripherals
- Troubleshooting/problem diagnosis of desktop/laptop software, including operating systems, application software and Peripherals
- Support and maintain virtual patch testing environment for the deployment to desktop and remote computers.
- Provide local and remote end user support
- Basic troubleshooting/problem diagnosis of network equipment/systems and network cabling
- Develop and maintain operating system images in a machine-agnostic environment.
- Assists with the disposal of electronic waste material
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate would have strong experience with management and deployment with both Jamf and Intune as well as comfortable with phone tech support and talking with people on the phone. This is a seasonal role with a starting duration of 3-4 months with the possibility to go up to 6 months.
- JOB EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the support of Client desktop environment
- EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Information Technology or related degree
- Microsoft training or certification MCSE
- A , N , Server , Security
- Azure training or certification - Az-4104 or higher
- SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Installing and maintaining LAN/Desktop Hardware and Software systems including Windows 10, Office 2016, MS O365 suite and multiple hardware platforms including Apple iOS
- Tools, equipment, and materials used in personal computer repair and maintenance
- Network systems and network hardware (switches/routers) / software
- Strong customer service orientation
- Analyze and provide solutions for personal computer hardware and software problems
- Install and configure personal computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Work independently and as a member of a team in a diverse environment
