Class Details:
● Class Meeting Time: Sat 9:00 AM - 2:50 PM
● Location: SFBU – Classroom 209
Key Responsibilities:
Office Hours:
● Schedule and hold 2 office hours per week for student assistance. ● If there are multiple TAs for the course, coordinate to provide a total of 3 office hours per week.
Classroom and Lab Support:
● Assist the instructor during class sessions and lab activities as needed. ● Provide guidance and troubleshooting in the class and Lab.
● Offer support for coding assignments and projects in CS455.
Grading and Assessment:
● Grade tests, quizzes, and assignments (excluding midterms and finals).
● Ensure timely and accurate evaluation of student work.
Research and Course Assistance:
● Conduct research related to the Lab and C455 curriculum to enhance course materials. ● Assist the instructor in preparing resources for the course and lab.
Proctoring Responsibilities:
● Proctor exams and maintain a quiet, disciplined exam environment.
● Observe and report any incidents of cheating to the instructor immediately. ● Implement preventative measures to discourage inappropriate behavior during exams. Note: Proctors are not permitted to confront students during exams for any reason.
Other Duties:
● Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the instructor or department.
Timekeeping & Payroll:
Submit timesheets semi-monthly via TriNet:
- Paychecks are issued semi-monthly on the 10th and 25th of each month.
Important Payroll Policies:
● Monitor work hours weekly using TriNet.
● Pay periods:
○ Check on the 25th: Covers the 1st–15th of the current month.
○ Check on the 10th: Covers the 16th–end of the previous month.
Work Hours Policy:
● The TA shall not:
○ Work more than 8 hours in one workday.
○ Work 7 consecutive days in one work week.
○ Work more than 20 hours in one work week.
Violations of these policies may result in the termination of your student status.
Qualifications:
● Currently enrolled at SFBU, with demonstrated knowledge of CS455 topics,
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist students effectively. ● Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
● Prior experience as a TA or in a similar role is a plus.
