Referral Coordinator Job Description

Job Purpose: Referral Coordinator will ensure the effective management of all incoming specialist referrals. Perform a wide variety of tasks associated with referral tracking to be compliant with San
Lucas Pediatric Clinic protocol and HIPAA requirements to ensure patient safety. Other duties as assigned.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists the patients in obtaining appointments with specialists and acquiring special medical procedures. a. Telephones and Fax all documentation to providers of specialty services. b. Communicates with patient of contact information for providers of specialty services. c. Ensure that referrals are submitted, processed and completed in a timely manner. See below guidelines.
2. Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referral tracking. a. Communicates with clinical staff any issues or any need of further follow up. b. Contacts the patient regarding any pending referrals, and or diagnostic testing. c. Sends letters to patients if unable to contact.

3. Performs other related duties as indicated or when requested by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Training Level o High School Graduate o Certified Medical Assistant Certified o 2 Years Medical Office Experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Sacramento, CA 95834: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Medical Assistant: 2 years (Preferred)

Language:

  • Spanish (Required)

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
