**Job Summary**
The Treasurer's Office is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of technical accounting and office administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive working knowledge of assigned accounting functions, accuracy and attention to detail, and a thorough knowledge of governmental financial record-keeping methods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare trial balances, assemble and compile data for financial reports and analysis.
- Maintain accounting records for assigned funds, programs, or activities involving multiple transactions.
- Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and statistical reports.
- Resolve difficult and unusual problems.
- Review reports from other agencies, research discrepancies, and take action to ensure reconciliation with County records.
- Prepare monthly adjusting and year-end closing journal entries.
- Interpret and explain County funding policies and procedures relative to assigned areas.
- Disburse funds after determining conformance to County regulations.
- Compose correspondence or reports of a technical nature regarding financial matters.
- Perform other office clerical duties in support of assigned area and department.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Accounting, Business, Office Management, or related field and two years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping, bookkeeping experience, office administrative management, or support functions for a department or medium to large size program, and records management and retention; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid NM Driver's License.
Work Environment
This position does not exercise supervision over lower-level staff.
