Specializing in precision machining and metal fabrication, our Sanmina Newark, California facility has 15 years experience in both precision and large format solutions for industrial, semiconductor, clean technology and oil & gas markets. We provide comprehensive engineering and test capabilities: from in-house and hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large format vacuum chambers to machining of precision stainless steel mechanisms. We have the capacity to machine components up to 3 meters. Our metal fabrication services include grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating and anodizing. We can process many advanced materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous-nonferrous and other exotic alloys. 

Job Purpose:

The Process Improvement Engineer (PIE) is responsible for maintaining & improving manufacturing reliability, True Efficiency (TE), Running Efficiency (RE), production system capabilities, Value Engineering and operational stability.

Nature of Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Engage process improvement projects to optimize current processes in order to lower costs and increase efficiencies.
  • Lead implementation of improvement actions, using a positive, engaging and motivating approach with all team members at all levels.  
  • Review customer supplied drawing, model and specifications for manufacturability and suggest changes for low cost and better through put.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify improvements to quality and operational processes that are heavily reliant on controls.
  • Facilitates Kaizens and process mapping to bring alignment, extract knowledge and improve performance.  
  • Assist in process development to help streamline new product launches (NPI.)
  • Working with quality supervisor work coordinate departmental documentation duties and initiatives in both quality operations and lab environments.  
  • Develop, maintain and disseminate technical documentation including specifications, metrics, process flowcharts, process troubleshooting, etc.
  • Engages improvement projects across or within functions/operational sites via Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodology.
  • Facilitate flow of information/processes/procedures and helps troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Assist in developing process improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in developing standard procedures and policies to be followed by quality engineers. 

Education & Experience

  • B.S. degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a related field.
  • Process Improvement experience required. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Successful experience in a fast paced environment with the ability to multitask.
  • CNC manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience with CNC programming, cutting tools, fixtures, Master Cam, G-code etc is desired.
  • CAD 3D modeling and or drawing creation experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office and/or advanced Excel skills a plus.

Salary Range (annual): $126,000 - $135,000
