Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties and works closely with senior HR management in supporting the Facility. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation/interpretation, recruitment, affirmative action, employment law, and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist HR Manager on initial intake of employee relations issues. Will provide support to management on investigations that may include the Legal Department or outside entities.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with state and federal law.
- Manage and maintain records of benefits plans participation such as health insurance and retirement plans, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Assist with benefit management (health, life, dental, etc.) including: developing programs to educate employees on new, existing and any changes to various benefits; explain benefit options to new hires; enroll employees in plans and implement changes during open enrollment; assist in organizing and planning open enrollment period.
- Manage, monitor, and administer leaves of absence such as PDL, FMLA, CFRA, workers’ comp, and personal leaves, and coordinating benefits accordingly.
- Assist in performance management of employees, including tracking of 90-day reviews and annual performance reviews.
- Maintain employment files and records including, but not limited to Personnel, Medical/Worker-Comp, and I-9s.
- Assist in terminations (voluntary/involuntary) including Exit Interview.
- Responsible for responding to unemployment claims and gathering documentation in coordination with field management. Assist with preparation and attendance at unemployment hearings.
- Responsible for performing full cycle recruitment/on-boarding including: recruitment, conducting reference and background checks, sending offer letters, and conducting orientation.
- Responsible for assisting in handling open workers compensation claims.
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration, or another related field
· A minimum of 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Bilingual preferred; English/Spanish
