A. POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Director of Campus Ministry, the Campus Minister for Catholic Faith Formation (CFF) will offer pastoral care, leadership and service to the university community. In particular, this position will advance the mission of the Office of Campus Ministry: by fostering the spiritual life of students by overseeing Catholic faith formation efforts, including support for Catholic sacramental and faith, mentorship and training for liturgy interns, and student-led Catholic groups (65%); by assisting the Campus Minister for Music and Liturgy with liturgy planning and implementation (15%); by providing pastoral care for graduate students, leading evangelization efforts, coordinating with Student Life for student pastoral care, and performing other duties as assigned (10%); and by supporting the general work of the Division of Mission and Ministry (10%). This is a full-time, 12 month/year position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Sacramental and ongoing faith formation of students

Leads the Sacramental Formation program for those who seek to explore the Roman Catholic tradition, including the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and who seek the sacrament of confirmation.
Plans liturgical rites and faith-sharing opportunities for the Sacramental Formation program and manages sacramental records for RCIA catechumens and candidates and Confirmation candidates.
Initiates student opportunities for spiritual growth, evangelization, and outreach; organizes programs and events to provide Catholic catechesis, ongoing faith formation, and overall religious literacy.
Collaborates with Campus Minister for Spiritual Life Communities to build Catholic small groups focused on faith-sharing, Bible study, and service, which enable students to appropriate the Catholic faith.
Fosters opportunities for students to explore and discern God's call, including vocations to religious life and priesthood, through building relationships with various organizations and hosting events.

2.Mentorship of liturgy interns and student-led Catholic groups

Mentors and supervises liturgy interns in the areas of proclamation of the Word, Eucharistic ministry, and hospitality, providing for both spiritual formation and practical training in liturgical skills.
Facilitates weekly Breaking Open the Word (BOW) sessions, a gathering of liturgy and music interns to reflect on the following Sunday's Mass readings and provide student perspective for the homilist.
Provides programmatic support and guidance for Catholic-affiliated SCU Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), including College Catholics, her life His Glory, and Broncos for Life.

3. Planning and implementation of liturgies

Serves on the Liturgy Committee to plan and facilitate a variety of liturgical celebrations, including weekday and weekend masses, as well as major university liturgies throughout the academic year.
Assists with major university liturgies by developing liturgical scripts, coordinating logistics with presiders and the Mission Church staff, and recruiting and training liturgical ministers.
Coordinates paraliturgical events to support Catholic life on campus, such as recurring events like adoration, rosary, and Stations, and annual events like Día de los Muertos, Posadas, and Vía Crucis.
4. Pastoral care and service

Provides pastoral care and support to students, regardless of religious affiliation, including spiritual conversation and accompaniment, mentorship, and support during crises, including bereavement.
Leads planning and implementation of Campus Ministry programs and events for spiritual care of graduate students, including outreach events, Catholic liturgies, and interfaith services.
Contributes to the Campus Ministry department's ongoing efforts to carry out its mission, vision and strategic priorities and supports the work of the Division of Mission and Ministry at large.
Oversees financial accountability for area budget and ensures regular assessment of programs and events according to department guidelines.

5. Division Responsibilities

Attends and participates in Division of Mission and Ministry meetings and events, regardless of remote work scheduling .
Attends SCU campus-wide, staff-wide, and academic programming events to represent Campus Ministry and Catholic faith formation perspectives, to form relationships to support primary duties of the position, and to inform Catholic faith formation programming, including come events that may be held outside of regular business hours.

C. QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a multicultural environment with significant spiritual and religious diversity.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the Roman Catholic faith with well-integrated Christian faith, and ability to minister in a religiously diverse setting.
Ability to articulate Catholic theological perspectives with breadth and depth and bring them to life among college students.
Ability to support and guide students in issues related to the integration of their faith life.
Awareness of diverse ethnic and cultural expressions of Roman Catholic worship and cultural competency in ministry with attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion and dialogue across difference.
Familiarity with and experience in working with the Roman Catholic Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Close familiarity with the Jesuit educational tradition, Ignatian spirituality and values.
Demonstrated proficiency with facilitating group discussions and faith-sharing group activities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both colleagues and diverse college students.
Proficiency in using diverse electronic tools, such as Microsoft Office, Google Apps for Education, social media, and the ability to adapt to new technologies.

Education and Experience

Master Degree in Divinity, Theology or related field required.
At least 2 years of ministerial experience (paid or volunteer), required
Demonstrated experience with liturgical planning and coordination with Roman Catholic liturgy.
Collaborative experience in event planning and management.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with additional relevant qualifications, e.g., experience in ethnically diverse Catholic liturgies and fluency in one or more languages in addition to English.
