Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced EHR Implementation Lead to join our dynamic team. This position plays a critical role in the successful implementation, integration, and optimization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of expertise in both EHR system deployments and integration. You will work closely with clinical, technical, and administrative teams to design, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain the EHR system to meet the needs of our healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
EHR Implementation and Configuration:
- Lead the implementation and configuration of EHR systems, ensuring that they meet both functional and technical requirements across various clinical workflows.
- Collaborate with clinicians, project managers, and IT staff to design, configure, and test system workflows and data interfaces.
- Oversee the deployment of EHR software at Client sites and ensure that all hardware, software, and network infrastructure meet the necessary specifications for optimal performance.
- Conduct system integration, including data migration, interface design, and testing between EHR systems and other healthcare applications (e.g., Practice Management Systems, Lab Information Systems, PACS).
- Provide guidance on EHR system best practices, customization, and optimization to enhance clinical operations and user experience.
- Support the design, configuration, and testing of EHR clinical modules (e.g., clinical documentation, order entry, medication management, scheduling, etc.).
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party contractors to resolve technical issues during the EHR implementation process.
System Optimization & Maintenance:
- Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and optimization for the EHR system post-implementation, including performance tuning and system upgrades.
- Act as a subject matter expert for system users, answering technical questions and providing training as needed.
- Conduct periodic audits of system performance and configuration to ensure that the EHR continues to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and resolve any operational inefficiencies or issues with system functionality, workflows, or database performance.
- Document system configurations, workflows, troubleshooting steps, and best practices to ensure continuity of service.
Collaboration & Training:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT staff, clinicians, project managers, and external vendors, to ensure the success of EHR implementation projects.
- Act as EHR SME and occasionally provide training and support to end-users, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure smooth adoption of the new EHR system.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including implementation guide, user guides, training materials, and knowledge bases for EHR system administration and use.
- Assist in creating and implementing change management strategies to ensure a smooth transition during EHR go-live and upgrades.
Compliance & Security:
- Ensure that EHR systems comply with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Work with security teams to implement appropriate data security measures to protect sensitive patient information and ensure data integrity.
- Participate in audits, assessments, and reviews to ensure EHR and database systems are in compliance with organizational and industry standards.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in EHR system implementation, configuration, and support.
- Proven experience with EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, Meditech, NextGen, etc.) and healthcare information systems.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating EHR systems with other healthcare applications and ensuring seamless data flow across platforms.
- Prior experience with healthcare IT standards and frameworks (e.g., HL7, CCD, CDA, FHIR) is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based healthcare solutions and managing EHR systems hosted in cloud environments is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of EHR-related workflows and user interfaces within healthcare settings.
- Experience with EHR reporting and analytics tools.
Certifications (preferred but not required):
- Certified Healthcare Technology Specialist – EHR (CHTS-EHR)
- Epic or Cerner certification (or similar EHR certifications)
- HL7 or FHIR certification
- ITIL Foundation or similar IT service management certification
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a clinical healthcare setting and interact with healthcare professionals across various departments.
- Occasional on-call duties and after-hours support during EHR system upgrades or critical troubleshooting.
- Some travel may be required for on-site EHR implementation, support, and training.
