What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk - Revenue position at Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc?
The Accounting Clerk (AC) reports to the Senior Accounting Manager (SAM). The AC primarily assists in generating reports from Inventory tracking system, reviewing and researching shipments that meet revenue recognition criteria, gathering documentation and creating PDF packets, and creating an invoice in the Inventory tracking system. Other responsibilities of the AC include but are not limited to sending the invoice to customer, researching discrepancies and variances between payment sent by customer and invoice created, compiling internal and external audit support (invoice packets), and other duties which require the understanding of financial statements. The AC works with the SAM, Senior Revenue Accountant and Operations Controller to ensure that the close processes are on track and implements continuous improvement of the accounting environment.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years accounting or relevant bookkeeping experience including responsibility for company general ledger and financial statements preferred or a combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel software, ERP systems (preferably ORACLE) and 10-key competency.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established deadlines.
- Ability to build strong relationships and effectively communicate.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to establish and maintain quality relationships and support all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and changing priorities.
- Willingness to challenge conventional thinking for the betterment of the company.
