School of Science and Technology (SST) is an " A-rated district" (top rating based on TEA's A-F accountability system), award-winning, tuition-free, public charter school district that offers a specialized curriculum focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ( STEM ) in order to prepare future generations for our ever-evolving world. SST opened a campus at 2105 Louetta Road Spring, Texas 77388 in 2019-2020 academic school year. The campus serves Pre-K to 7th grade.

SST drives academic and socio-emotional development through a rigorous college preparatory, STEM-based learning model. SST's model is anchored on 21st-century skills, embraced by a character-building approach, and delivered in an enriching, safe, and student-centered learning environment.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas EC-6 or 4-8 Math teaching certificate.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with English Second Language Certification Supplemental.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area(s).
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to the students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Make provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes when required.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluate their job performance.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Participate in district and campus staff development.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans in a timely manner in the platform the school utilizes.
  • Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required.
  • Meet the mentor teacher regularly (if new teacher)
  • SST staff fully supports the character.org 11- Principles implementation.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to organize special programs for the assigned campus.
  • Ability to use a computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • The position is in a classroom setting and requires intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing.
  • Moderate travel is required.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment.'

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
