The Graduate School at South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking a Graduate Program Coordinator. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in the Graduate School mission of serving and supporting graduate students. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible position.The South Dakota State University Graduate School advances post-baccalaureate education to meet the economic, technological, and societal needs of South Dakota and beyond, supports graduate student success, and fosters innovation and diversity in graduate education and scholarship.South Dakota State University promotes access to and opportunities for all to receive the benefit of and participate in education, research, and service and is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to this land-grant mission of access.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position will provide coordination of the Professional Science Master’s program, as well as any other graduate programs housed within the Graduate School, and will contribute to achieving program and department enrollment and student success goals.Major responsibilities include:Marketing and active recruitment of PSM and other graduate programs.Assist with review and approval of program specific graduate applications.Advise and assist graduate students in registering for courses, developing plans of study, and other required components of degree completion.Partner with Graduate Faculty, Department Heads, Deans and Directors of various colleges to ensure program admission, matriculation, placements for experiential learning and student success.Provide routine enrollment and student progress reports to the Director and other stakeholders.Coordinate graduate student professional development program.Work with the Director and professionals across campus and in the community to facilitate transferable skills workshops for graduate students on a variety of topics.Coordinate DegreeWorks system.Manage and ensure accuracy of the DegreeWorks tool designed to track degree progress of graduate students.Serve as Graduate School representative for the DegreeWorks committee.BENEFITS:South Dakota State University offers a wide range of excellent benefits including medical, dental, and flexible benefits, retirement plans, compensation packages, paid holidays, and vacation leave. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in related field by of application;At least one year of experience in an educational setting working with students;Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;Strong interpersonal skills;Ability to work as a contributing team member;Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs;Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; andDemonstrated ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in related field;Previous experience working in graduate or higher education;Demonstrated experience with computer systems and software applications;Demonstrated leadership in coordinating programs or educational efforts; andPrevious experience advising students.APPLICATION PROCESS:This system will guide you through the electronic application form.
