LOCATION: Mechanical EngineeringSTARTING HOURLY RATE: $22.06 hourly, depending upon education and experience, GHPOSITION PURPOSE: The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is seeking applicants to coordinate, lead, and manage the laboratories, shops, and related staff and student employees, for the mechanical engineering department.Duties include supervising the department’s Equipment Technician and workflow to run the department’s machine shop effectively and efficiently. Recruit, supervise, manage, and train a cadre of department student employees (“mentors”) that support the department’s shops and labs. Training to include; manual and power hand tools, metrology, wood shop tools and machinery, and metal machining (including manual and CNC milling and turning), and welding (arc, MIG, and TIG-GTAW).Setup, maintain, and operate department shop equipment. Maintenance and inventory of existing department equipment. Assist faculty with procurement of new equipment and supplies as well as disposal of old equipment and supplies.
