Our client is a Texas based, privately owned company in West Houston. The owners of the organization also own other related companies and need to hire an experienced Controller to handle all accounting and finance for the combined entities. This is a newly created role. Specifically, this position will manage day-to-day accounting activities, coordinate, develop, and maintain a general ledger and subsidiary ledger along with a chart of accounts necessary to provide accurate and timely financial reporting as well as the requirements of corporate management for at least nine related entities. This role will also manage the accounting team in office in West Houston.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparation and processing of detailed financial statements for each entity and for the combined organization using Quickbooks online
- Coordinate financial audits with the CEO and CFO
- Manage banking relationships with multiple banks and bank accounts and negotiate fees as needed
- Delegate data entry, AP and AR tasks with staff
- Maintain responsibility for all intercompany accounting
- Prepares written budgets and reports in accordance with the companys needs
- Establish internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements
- Reconcile accounts monthly
- Responsible for hiring, training and oversight of an accounting team of 3.
- Oversee the processing and submission of invoices
- Review financial data on a monthly basis and consult with management about problems or discrepancies
- Perform other duties and special projects as required and assigned
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- CPA accreditation preferred
- Proven experience as assistant controller or controller
- Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
- Transportation or industrial industry experience preferred
- Strong, effective managerial skills required
- Sales tax experience very helpful
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Commitment to detailed financial accounting and reporting
- Working knowledge of MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and Quickbooks
