Description

SUMMARY:  The Director of Human Resources will plan and develop all Resort programs and ensures legal compliance. Develops an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes on guest satisfaction and a safe and healthy work environment. Acts as a role model within and outside of the organization.

  • Implement an effective recruiting process and program for hourly and management positions
  • Continuously review recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of company’s policies, procedures, and practices
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislations and ensures company’s compliance
  • Responsible for company’s compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
  • Partner with department Directors regarding all employee relations issues, performance improvement plans, and include General Manager as necessary
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by General Manager
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing benefits program (medical, dental, vision, life, 401k)
  • Partner with broker on annual renewals
  • Process and approve terminations and COBRA paperwork
  • Recommends, coordinates, and conducts training in various topics include but not limited to: Forbes Standards, interviewing, hiring, terminations, performance evaluations, safety, and harassment.
  • Monitors all claims against the company, coordinates, and develops plan for Unemployment appeals/hearings
  • Manages and implements employee recognition programs
  • Monitors performance appraisal program and makes recommendations for change in employment status in necessary
  • Manages the safety program and ensures all departments have required certifications, safety audits and safety trainings are completed
  • Administer workers’ compensation claims, monitor loss run reports, notify department managers on any work restrictions, and return to work dates
  • Manages expenses of HR operation within budget allocations and assigned resources
  • Completes bi-weekly payroll Provide support and direction to payroll accountant regarding payroll process and wage and hour laws
  • Process all leave of absences such as but not limited to i.e., FMLA, MLOA, CFRA,ACA etc.
  • Develop and maintain HR systems and processes
  • Conduct exit interviews on voluntary terminations and involuntary terminations
  • Conduct turnover analysis to identify retention issues
  • Attend and participate in Executive Committee and Departmental meetings
  • Assist in the preparation of A&G budget for Human Resources
  • Must support and be an ambassador of Seascape’s company polices and employee handbook

Qualifications


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise Human Resources Generalist
  • Provides direction to all managers for any HR related issues
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Proven leadership and business acumen skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 4-6 years in a Human Resources Management position equivalent combination of education and experience

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet applications
  • Proficient in Payroll and HR software, specifically Paycom

 

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES

  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US
  • Valid California Driver License is required
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification desired
