The Social Work Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Seattle University (SU) invites applications for a tenure-eligible Associate or Full Professor to serve as the Director for the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program. The Director position has a three-year renewable term. The rank will be determined by level of experience. Anticipated position start date: July 1, 2023.


The SU Social Work Dept. has a CSWE-accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. The MSW Program Director is responsible for providing overall academic and administrative leadership for the MSW program, including MSW program curriculum, assessment and planning, budget, and personnel (hiring, supervision, and review of full time and adjunct faculty and staff within the MSW program). The MSW Program Director provides leadership for student recruitment, enrollment, evaluation, and retention. The MSW Program Director ensures all aspects of MSW curriculum coherence and adherence to the CSWE accreditation standards and insures reaffirmation of accreditation. The MSW Program Director teaches within the generalist and specialized (clinical social work) curriculum and engages in ongoing discipline-based research.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong record of leadership in education administration and exemplify excellence in scholarship, teaching, community engagement, and commitment to social and economic justice.

Compensation at a Glance:

Overall Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: a doctorate degree in Social Welfare/Social Work or a closely related field; an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program; minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership in program development/management/evaluation within education or administration; minimum 5 years of teaching in social work or a closely related field; a minimum of 2 years post-Master’s degree professional social work experience; and eligible for tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.


Preferred Requirements: five or more years of demonstrated success in education leadership or administration experience; 5 or more years of teaching in MSW programs; 4 or more years of post-Master’s degree professional experience; experience in technology and online instruction and program development;
and eligible for tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
