Residential Counselor

Second Story for Teens in Crisis is an adolescent group home located in Vienna, VA. We are looking for an individual of any experience level to work as a full-time Residential Counselor. This is an excellent introduction to case management and crisis counseling in the mental health/social services field. Ideal candidates will be compassionate, adaptable, culturally competent, and eager to learn with strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities:

• Support residents through the daily house schedule
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment
• Provide clinical case management, including case notes and treatment plans
• Answer crisis hotline calls
• Conduct intakes and discharges

Schedule (non-negotiable):

• Sunday: 3:30pm-11:30pm
• Monday: OFF
• Tuesday: 3:30pm-11:30pm
• Wednesday: 11am-7pm
• Thursday: 8:30am-4:30pm
• Friday: 8:30am-4:30pm
• Saturday: OFF

Qualifications:

• REQUIRED:Must have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field)
• REQUIRED: Must be willing to undergo a background investigation prior to employment and become certified in CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration
• PREFERRED: Prior experience in the mental health field, especially with teens
• PREFERRED: Ability to speak Spanish

Salary:

This position pays $21 per hour (or $22 per hour for candidates who speak Spanish fluently).
