Title: Security Officer
Location: Oak Park River Forest
Pay Rate: $15.00
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday
Job Summary: We are seeking dedicated and professional Security Officers to help create a safe and welcoming environment in a school setting. This role is ideal for individuals who would enjoy working in a school setting with children or young adults while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise assigned areas to maintain security and order.
- Conduct regular patrols of the school building, corridors, stairwells, and grounds.
- Secure exterior doors and monitor access to the facility.
- Use a tour-of-duty system to document inspections of key areas.
- Provide assistance to the public, including giving directions and supporting visitors in compliance with school procedures.
- Respond promptly and professionally to staff concerns and emergencies.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized activities and promote safety.
- Escort students as needed and assist school staff in maintaining order.
- Report security breaches, incidents, or suspicious activity immediately to the Principal and Supervisor.
- Monitor Cameras.
- Security Officers may be required to use metal detectors or other weapons detection systems for visitor and student screening.
- Security Officers may be required to work access points within the school which would require following precedures for vistor management.
- Support other duties as assigned by school administration or Securatex management.
Schedule:
- Primarily Monday through Friday, daytime shifts.
- Variable hourly positions with schedules subject to adjustment based on operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, with a courteous and professional approach to interactions.
- Prior experience in school security or a similar environment is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:
- 20-Hour Certificate: Completion of a 20-hour security training course.
- PERC Card: Ability to obtain a valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Officer must be 21 years or older
- Previous experience in a security or similar role preferred.
- Ability to stay alert and focused
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to safely de-escalate issues between students or visitors
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and professionally.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to any incidents or emergencies.

- Variable Hours: All positions are considered variable hour roles, with weekly hours subject to change based on operational needs.
- Compensation: The hourly rates specified in this job posting apply exclusively to this position. Securatex may offer other assignments with different pay rates. All required training is compensated for at no less than the state minimum wage.
