Supervisor of the Central Intake Unit – (Hybrid)
Salary Range: ($64,022 - $70,000) depending on experience and qualifications.
To support high-quality program delivery, we are looking for a medical records Central Intake Unit Supervisor with a combination of healthcare document management, customer service, and supervisory experience to ensure timely and accurate operations by our Federal Workers' Compensation Programs medical records team. Under general direction, the Supervisor of the Central Intake Unit, working hybrid at home and from our Bethesda, MD office, oversees staff within the Federal Workers' Compensation Medical Records Department, to include productivity reporting, scheduling, auditing, and training responsibilities, in addition to general supervisor responsibilities (timesheet, one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, etc). The CIU Supervisor may continue to provide medical record technician (MRT) tasks, including organizing patient records and providing administrative support to the clinical team. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
Supervision
- Oversee and modify (with support and as-needed) project team operations to ensure timely, effective, and efficient services to customers, including schedule and coverage
- Lead reporting activities on team production and audit outcomes
- Collaborate with VP Client Services and clinical managers to identify opportunities to streamline and improve medical records technicians' (MRT) administrative support; identify and implement strategies to improve efficiency; measure and report on results.
- Guide direct reports in the application of policies and procedures to daily operations
- Hold one-on-one meetings with direct reports to discuss the status of work, next steps, and feedback on job performance.
- Lead periodic recurring Team Meetings to communicate changes, educate the team, and discuss issues encountered by team members.
- Identify and escalate areas of concern or opportunity.
- Develop training materials and a training plan; train the Unit to maintain a high level of customer service.
- Independently identify risks or issues; with support from VP Client Services, as needed, participate as a technical advisor in system build-out or improvements.
Core MRT Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, identify, attach, and label incoming documentation into the correct case file
- Update clinical arrays.
- Send faxes and mail to medical providers.
- Upload files to DOL.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor DOL claim status and update case file.
- Review pharmacy and billing records and draft summary reports.
- Create case files (First Reports of Injury).
Duties Assigned As Needed
- Coordinate the case transfer process.
- May perform other duties, as needed, to meet the needs of the business.
Supervisor of the Central Intake Unit Qualifications
- GED or High School diploma with 4 years additional experience, or a Bachelor's degree preferred
- 6 or more years of increasingly responsible medical or health records experience, administrative/general office experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in federal workers' compensation.
- 2 years mentor | team lead | supervisor experience preferred
- Other Skills and Abilities, Qualifications
- Working knowledge of common Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical records field.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a confidential-level security clearance for the majority of clients

Sedgwick Government Solutions provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of a specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is ($64,022 - $73,800).
