Position Title: Accounting Assistant
Location: Onsite in Birmingham, AL
Position Status: 1-year contract
Position Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with strong Excel skills (including Pivot Tables) to support our client’s accounting team. This role will involve data entry, reimbursements, invoicing, etc. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Lawson and Oracle and hold an Accounting degree.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Entry & Reconciliation: Accurately enter financial data into accounting systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Expense Reimbursements: Process employee reimbursements while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Invoicing: Prepare and verify invoices, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
- Excel Reporting: Utilize Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and other Excel functions to organize and analyze financial data.
- Systems Management: Work within Lawson and Oracle to input, track, and manage financial data.
- General Ledger Support: Assist with journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Financial Documentation: Maintain and organize financial records for audits and reporting purposes.
- Communication & Coordination: Work with internal teams and external vendors to resolve billing discrepancies.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Technical Skills:
- Strong Excel proficiency (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, data analysis).
- Experience with Lawson and Oracle accounting systems.
- Familiarity with accounts payable, invoicing, and expense reporting.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to handle high-volume financial transactions.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for working with employees, vendors, and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
