JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations. This role will be responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement of raw materials and finished goods, materials planning and inventory management, logistics, and production scheduling within a manufacturing and multi-site distribution company. The ideal candidate will drive efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure a seamless flow of materials and finished goods to meet business objectives and customer demands.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials and finished goods to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and supplier reliability.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring long-term partnerships that support business needs.
- Monitor supplier performance, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and lead times. Identify alternate sources of supply where necessary.
- Monitor and communicate commodity market trends that are impactful to the business.
- Coordinate with product development to support sourcing and procurement of new products.
Supply Chain Planning & Inventory Management:
- Oversee material requirements planning (MRP) and demand forecasting to maintain optimal inventory levels within the manufacturing facility and across a multi-site distribution network.
- Develop and implement inventory control strategies to minimize excess stock while ensuring product availability.
- Drive inventory accuracy and reduce obsolescence through data-driven decision-making and a cycle counting program.
Logistics & Distribution Management:
- Manage inbound, interfacility, and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
- Optimize freight and distribution strategies to reduce costs and improve delivery performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and internal fulfillment teams to streamline transportation processes.
Production Scheduling & Execution:
- Coordinate with production operations to maintain production schedules that align with customer demand, inventory targets, and operational constraints.
- Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, sales, and customer service teams to balance supply and demand.
- Monitor and adjust scheduling as needed to address production delays, equipment downtime, or demand fluctuations.
Continuous Improvement & Performance Monitoring:
- Implement KPIs and metrics to track supply chain performance, including cost (materials and logistics), inventory turnover, and service levels.
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, or production planning, preferably in a Make-to-Stock manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus).
- Proficiency in materials planning, inventory optimization, and supplier management.
- Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to collaborate across teams.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
This position is onsite in Sioux Falls, SD.
