Position Summary:
Join the SequenceMD team to provide a full spectrum of genetic services in the Rocky Mountain region, including but not limited to general genetics, oncology genetics, metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease, and neurologic disease.
Responsibilities:
- Collects, reviews and interprets family/medical histories, medical records, test results, and other relevant/necessary information.
- Coordinates testing, reviews results with MD geneticists, and communicates results to referring healthcare provider.
- Develops counseling plans, including risk assessment, referrals, education, family planning options.
- Provides counseling and education to patients and their families. Identifies and provides referrals for testing, treatment, support, and advocacy within the scope of practice.
- Researches, maintains, and applies knowledge of trends and developments in genetic disease research, testing, and treatment.
- Participates in ongoing or new activities supported by the clinic.
- Participates in specialty boards (tumor and others), awareness building, Grand Rounds, local continuing education opportunities, and other educational forums, when available.
- Develops new programs to help support patient populations in both the Denver metro and surrounding rural areas through the mountain region.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in genetic counseling from an accredited program
- Board certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG)
- Two or more years of professional clinical experience a plus
