Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant CFO/Controller to join our team. This role is ideal for a financial professional with experience in property management or a related industry - could also be beneficial for someone who is looking to reduce their commute (no NYC travel required!) and take on a leadership role in a growing company. You will work closely with our retiring CFO/Controller to manage all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to our clients. This position offers the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership role as the current CFO/Controller transitions into retirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all financial operations for our clients, including bank account maintenance, bill payments, and budget preparation.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for clients, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Collaborate with homeowners, shareholders, and vendors to resolve financial inquiries and issues.
- Develop and maintain financial spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
- Support the creation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for client properties.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in property management, real estate, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with condominiums, cooperatives, or HOAs is a plus.
