JOB SUMMARY : The organization is searching for a dynamic individual to provide assistance with the daily administrative operations of the human resource department and interacts with employees, management and other business associates. The work requires knowledge of the procedures, techniques and practices involved in carrying out the work of an organization within established guidelines, the skill to use various office equipment, along with the ability to create and edit documents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Adheres to the mission of SER Metro-Detroit and Subsidiaries.
- Organizes and manages project specific tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Exhibits professionalism, diplomacy and ability to appropriately interact with management and staff at all times.
- Communicates effectively by responding to inquiries and requests by established deadlines.
- Ensures the maintenance of the integrity and confidentiality of all staff information, including electronic, hard copy and filing systems.
- Assists with planning and execution of employee engagement activities and retention strategies.
- Assists with developing and maintaining a relationship with employee agencies, universities and other recruitment sources.
- Assists with preparing and maintaining company job documentation, and evaluation questionnaires.
- Participates in recruitment efforts; posts positions, reviews resumes, evaluates applicant skills and makes recommendations regarding applicant’s qualifications, to aid managers with their staffing needs.
- Assists Managers with scheduling candidate interviews and conducting reference checks as needed.
- Coordinates all pre-employment testing, verifies completion of forms, validates all requirements for charter school staff and enters data into reporting system with the State of Michigan.
- Enter and certify all school staff and contractors in the Registry of Education Personnel (REP) report through the Center for Educational Performance & Information (CEPI).
- Validates credentials SYLA Charter School staff and contractors, ensures all certifications and licenses are required, requests teaching permits and special education approvals from the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) as applicable.
- Conducts and verifies FBI Fingerprinting background (LiveScan) checks for all staff in the CHRISS system.
- Assists with the completion of the Charter School Reauthorization Rubric.
- Conducts applicable audits with the State of Michigan, ensures required files and reports are entered accurately in the system.
- Conducts Unprofessional Conduct checks (UPC) for all charter school staff and contractors.
- Monitors and tracks charter school teacher & administrator certifications, ancillary staff licensing, and ensures valid credentials are confirmed for reporting and registry with the State.
- Coordinates and schedules coordinates staff training and development courses as requested and assigns and tracks completion of online employee trainings for current staff and new hires.
- Assists with preparation, design and conducting new employee onboarding / orientations and new hire set up.
- Checks and / or compares documents, forms, applications, or other materials for Human Resource function and divisional accuracy, completeness, grammar, and format.
- Helps maintain organizational charts and related human resource function directories.
- Contributes to the team effort by assuming other job duties as required and assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must have physical ability to occasionally sit in one position for extended periods of time. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stand or walk as necessary. Employees must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and must be able to set up a display area as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
