Job Summary:
The Construction Purchasing Clerk is responsible for supporting the procurement process in a construction environment by coordinating purchases, maintaining records, and ensuring materials and supplies are ordered and received on time. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with vendors, project managers, and other construction personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Process and manage purchase orders (POs) in QuickBooks with accuracy.
- Source, order, and track materials to ensure timely delivery to job sites.
- Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and vendor agreements.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Controllers, and Construction Team to anticipate material needs.
- Verify order accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure quality control.
- Assist in inventory management to prevent delays or overstocking.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to negotiate pricing and availability.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist in the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Prepare and process purchase orders based on project needs.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and confirm delivery schedules.
- Track and follow up on pending orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Verify invoices against purchase orders and delivery receipts before processing payments.
- Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members regarding material requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and budget constraints.
- Maintain a database of preferred suppliers and analyze purchasing trends.
- Assist with inventory control and stock level monitoring.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activities and cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (construction experience preferred).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks for purchase order management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
