Job Title: Accounting Supervisor
General Definition: This position audits and prepares financial information for the
assigned departments. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for meeting monthly financial reporting deadlines along with quarterly and annual financial deadlines including reconciliation of statements and accounts.
Supervision Received: Controller
Supervision Exercised: Accounting Department
Essential Job Functions:
• Review and reconcile each general ledger account in which responsible and provide supporting balance documentation.
• Post, maintain and review daily activity into general ledger accounts by tracking on spreadsheets and posting to the system.
• Compile monthly financial reports for the GGS Corporate office by due dates provided.
• Produce monthly accounting reports by using accounting software for review with the management team to assist managers on actual to budget results and explanation of expenses; report unusual variances.
• Assist internal and external auditors with audit issues and required reports for audit that would require detailed information to ensure a clean and accurate audit.
• Supervise subordinates by providing guidance in resolving issues through relating policies and procedures and providing guidance for effective management of subordinate’s responsibilities.
• All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Intermediate computer literacy with specific proficiency in Word and Excel
• Must exhibit strong analytical and critical thinking skills with strong detail focus
• Must have initiative to work independently
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to relate problems and translate solution in a manner that can easily be understood by customers, team members and management
• Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, and to achieve results without close supervision
• Ability to enter a smoke filled environment as needed
Training and Experience:
• Previous related work experience is preferred
• Prior public accounting experience, or a similar foundation in accounting
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
• Must be able to pass a background check and receive/maintain a license or permit from the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission
• Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result
Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00
(occasional weekends)
40 Hour work week
