Position Summary
Works under general supervision of an assigned supervisor or manager on cases involving dependent neglect, custody, visitation, abuse and other complaints regarding the welfare of children.
Pay Grade: 45
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Entry level experience, including work experience, internships and/or volunteer community work, preferably with youth; AND
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, behavioral sciences or related degree; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assess high risk physical and sexual abuse cases and determine immediate actions for handling cases.
2. Counsels with clients to assess the type of services needed and schedules court hearings with children and their families regarding dependent/ neglect or abuse charges.
3. Creates both paper and computerized case files.
4. Prepares legal documents and reports for court presentations; present cases before the court.
5. Prepares packets for attorneys, Department of Children's Services and Court Appointed Special Advocates involved in each case; collaborate with Juvenile Court legal staff.
6. Maintains social (family), delinquent, and dependent/neglect histories on assigned children and families.
7. Acts as liaisons with other agencies that are involved with families, such as school, welfare and family and counseling service providers.
8. Makes referrals to agencies to meet the needs of individual cases.
9. Obtains supportive information such as school records, psychiatric psychological and medical reports in reference to assigned cases.
10. Maintains daily notes of interest on assigned children to computerized case management database and hard copy family social file.
11. Manages assigned caseloads; prepare case management reports and daily task list.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

11. Ability to engage in public speaking required.
12. Ability to use a computer in a PC network environment.
13. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
