What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Crisis Response Advocate position at Shelterhouse?
Job Function:
The 2nd Shift Crisis Response & Residential Support Advocate provides support and assistance to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families. This includes Helpline assistance, crisis intervention, assessment of needs, resource linkage, and advocacy on clients’ behalf with community partners. This position focuses on connecting survivors to services through the Helpline and also provides administrative and shelter support for residential programs and administrative support to housing programs.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides crisis intervention and support via staffing the Helpline.
2. Responds to walk-ins and SANE calls.
3. Responds to service requests, assesses client needs, and connects to and/or schedules with other staff, as appropriate.
4. Acts as liaison and/or advocate with legal, housing, social, welfare, police, and medical agencies.
5. Educates clients on dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, batterer tactics, red flags and healthy relationships.
6. Maintains confidential, accurate, and timely client records and documentation.
7. Provides support to residential services.
8. Performs wide-ranging administrative duties to support residential and housing programs.
9. Welcomes donors and deliveries; ensures proper storage of items and/or communication to package recipients.
10. Assists with assessment of and provides technical support for Shelterhouse security levels.
11. Collaborates with team members in accepting shelter residents.
12. Participates in team meetings in a positive and supportive manner.
13. Trains individuals on helpline.
14. Serves on-call for residential programs and SANE.
15. Follows Agency policies and procedures as well as funder/grant requirements.
16. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field or two years of experience working with individuals in crisis. Basic skills in Microsoft Word/Office. This position also requires a valid driver’s license, proof of valid/current auto insurance, clean driving record, and reliable transportation if driving personal or Agency vehicle for any Shelterhouse related purpose. Must pass mandatory background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals in crisis; knowledge of dynamics of and experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence; effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
