Job Summary: As a Primary Care Physician you will provide patients with high-quality treatment. The ideal candidate is an intuitive healthcare professional whose diagnostic abilities are only matched by their concern for their patients. The person in the Physician role will be responsible for meeting, assessing and diagnosing patients in our clinic and providing them with healthcare services that meet state and national standards for caregiving. They will be responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life. The right candidate will have a passion for providing diagnostic services to patients and will enjoy working closely with other healthcare professionals in our organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain health histories and assess the stated health of the patient in order to determine health care needs and documents findings in the medical record.
- Perform complete screening examinations and routine examinations in order to determine a baseline, reflect the nature of the patient visit, diagnose and promote good health.
- Perform, order and interpret routine laboratory tests; notifies patients of results as appropriate.
- Consult and instruct patients in order to provide support, facilitate recovery and foster patient self-care at home; promotes health through continued follow-up care.
- Provide for the referral of patients to specialists based upon identified need.
- Maintain a system for accurately recording and reporting patient conditions in the medical record; assure medical records are transferred as required when patients are referred; participate in annual review for quality and completeness.
- Determine routine medical orders.
- Attend various seminars or symposia to meet personal CME requirements and to enhance the delivery of medical care to patients of the Clinic.
- Perform various public relation activities to include meeting with local community groups or service organizations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with area health care entities such as hospitals, physician practices, health departments, home health care agencies, and other ancillary support groups.
- Seek and promote affiliations with other health care entities that offer the opportunity to enhance the delivery of health care to the local patient population.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
- Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
- Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
- Record complete, timely and legible medical records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
- Experience providing primary care, preferred in a rural health care clinical setting.
- Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments and health regimens to treat patient health issues.
- Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
- Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
- Interest in Medication Assisted Treatment for substance abuse patients.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- We are looking for a candidate with at least 1 years of experience in a Primary Care Physician role who has the following certifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited United States medical school.
- Successful completion of residency and at an accredited healthcare institution.
- Board certification in primary care or related field from said residency.
- Current State of Michigan Medical Practitioner License.
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing.
