What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lathe Operator Professional position at Shields Manufacturing?
We are looking for a highly experienced or journeyman-level machinist to join our lathe department on a night shift schedule. The ideal candidate will have extensive machine shop/metal working skills, be able to work with decimals, and be comfortable working with close tolerances.
The night shift schedule is from 3:30 PM to 2 AM, Monday to Thursday, and we offer a 10% shift differential for this schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate lathes, including Mori Seiki, Hitachi Seiki, Nakamura Tome, Haas TL-2, and Manual Lathe.
- Set up jobs, calculate machining factors, and process offset changes unassisted.
- Check parts using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices.
- Verify conformance of completed work.
