Position Summary:
The Senior Managing Director of Regulatory Reporting will oversee the bank’s regulatory reporting functions, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. This role focuses on critical reports, including FR Y-9C, Y-9LP, Y-14 Q/M, Y-15, and FFIEC 041. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in U.S. regulatory requirements for Category 4 (or larger) banks, strong leadership skills, and hands-on experience with AxiomSL (now part of Nasdaq) or similar regulatory reporting platforms. This position reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the preparation, review, and timely submission of essential regulatory reports, such as FFIEC 041, FR Y-14 (Q/M), FR Y-9C/LP, FR Y-15, and other filings required by the Federal Reserve (FRB), OCC, and FDIC.
- Manage the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of the regulatory reporting platform to optimize data accuracy, automation, and compliance with evolving regulations.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls over regulatory reporting processes, including data collection, validation, reconciliation, and reporting workflows.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, overseeing examinations, audits, and responses to financial reporting inquiries.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regulatory reporting team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Risk Management, IT, and Compliance teams to align regulatory reporting with broader business operations and strategic initiatives.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes, evaluate their impact on reporting obligations, and drive necessary process adaptations to maintain compliance.
- Provide strategic insights and thought leadership to senior leadership regarding regulatory developments, reporting risks, and opportunities for process optimization.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or an advanced degree (MBA, MS in Finance) is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in regulatory reporting within the banking or financial services industry.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. regulatory reporting requirements, including FR 2052a, FR Y-14 (Q/M), Y-9C, Y-9LP, Y-15, and FFIEC Call Reports.
- Hands-on experience with AxiomSL (RegCloud/ControllerView) or similar platforms, including expertise in data integration, reporting automation, and process enhancement.
- Strong understanding of liquidity risk, capital adequacy, stress testing, and other regulatory frameworks (e.g., Dodd-Frank, Basel III).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to senior leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in regulatory reporting systems, data management tools, and advanced Excel; SQL or data analytics expertise is an advantage.
