The Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition (SCRC) was established in 2009. The Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition is a collaborative effort to provide quality social services and youth programs that are accessible, safe, and honor the dignity of each person. This work includes a reduction in risk factors related to youth substance use and social, emotional, and physical health in order to increase youth resiliency. Our goal is to help community members reach their full potential. The SCRC is one of several university centers of excellence. The SCRC’s goal is to help community members reach their full potential while providing educational opportunities to SU students. Our goals are met by partnering with existing organizations to either support the expansion of their programs or work together to create new programs. We often serve as a catalyst in the community to identify needs and bring stakeholders together to assess the next steps. The SCRC Coordinator will focus on coalition building for systems change and leading student experiences. The SCRC Coordinator will lead community assessment efforts and efforts to address systems change for better services in the community. This is accomplished through building relationships with stakeholders, implementing prevention and intervention strategies and identifying and advocating for policies for systems change, and promoting community involvement. The programs of the SCRC include Hound Packs, Summer Learning Program, and other youth prevention work and social service initiatives.

This position will start between May 2025 and June 2025 and will be determined upon hire.

The SCRC Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
  • Facilitate regular coalition meetings to discuss the needs of Shippensburg residents and accomplish SCRC mission and goals

  • Recruit and supervise interns who are in their professional field semester(s); train them to provide information and referral services to community members

  • Collaborate with university faculty to develop research and service-learning projects

  • Engage in community assessment as needed as part of a team

  • Develop programs to address unmet needs

  • Expand resources through grant writing, volunteer recruitment, and private support through partnerships/sponsorships

  • Serve as work lead for other SCRC staff

  • Respond to requests for information or assistance related to SCRC

  • Serve as a resource to the Shippensburg University community related to local social service issues

  • Represent Shippensburg University and SCRC within the university, the local community, the
region and the state

  • Prepare and implement marketing strategy for the program and services

  • Lead the effort to produce an annual report that demonstrates SCRC progress and outcomes

  • Work with SCRC Center Director on preparing, monitoring, and assessing budget and resources

  • Meet grant proposal and report deadlines

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Masters of Social Work degree and a minimum of three years of relevant social work experience. Experience should include leading a coalition(s), searching for and writing grant proposals, supervision of social work students in field settings, evaluation of programs, and knowledge of local social service systems. Demonstrated knowledge of the social determinants of health, youth development, strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient technology skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects are also required. In addition, the ability to network with partners and stakeholders and proven project management experience is also required. Five years of relevant social work experience is preferred. Successful performance in an on-campus interview is also required.
