Director of Facilities
Oversees the management of physical buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, including supervising maintenance, renovations, safety protocols, and compliance. Additionally, responsible for managing staff, budgets, and ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Management
- Developing and implementing long-term facility plans and strategies.
- Forecasting space needs and managing facility utilization.
- Overseeing capital projects, renovations, and new construction.
Operations and Maintenance
- Managing facility and equipment maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.
- Overseeing the operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
Budget Management
- Developing and managing facility budgets.
- Monitoring expenditures and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Staff Management
- Hiring, training, and supervising maintenance team.
- Motivating and developing the maintenance team.
- Grow preventative maintenance program by identifying and training additional key site team members.
Vendor Management
- Selecting, negotiating with, and managing external contractors and vendors.
- Ensuring contractors adhere to safety standards and project requirements.
Safety
- Developing, implementing and maintaining safety training programs.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Ensure all team members are maintaining a safe worksite.
Other Duties
- Managing facility space planning and design.
- Coordinating updates and other facility-related activities.
- Responding to emergencies and incidents.
- Reporting maintenance and/or repair timelines and deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or 4 years related experience (e.g., construction management, facilities management).
- Experience: 2 years of managerial experience in facilities management or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety regulations as well as Microsoft 365.
- Soft Skills: Organized, excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Other: Project management experience, knowledge of budgeting and financial management, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
