Mornings 2-3 hours (every day but Tuesday & Thursday): 1-2 people may job share to fulfill needs
Organization Summary
Shy Wolf Sanctuary is a home to captive-bred wolves and other exotic animals. Animals come to us from shelters, private surrenders, and seizure by authorities due to negligence, abandonment, or abuse. Our mission is to heal hearts and minds through rescue, sanctuary, and education.
Position Purpose
The Education Visit Guide provides high quality and fun educational programming to groups at the sanctuary.
Reports to
Guide Coordinator
Major Functions
Greets guests enthusiastically and warmly, making them feel welcome.
Informs and engages visitors to understand and support sanctuary programs and efforts.
Arrives before visits, prepare for visit, put out display tables & posters.
Explains rules & waivers, ensure waivers are completed properly & legible
Explains and follows safety rules for the visit in an upbeat and positive manner.
Represents Shy Wolf in a professional, educational, and appealing way to engage visitors.
Solicits donations / sells merchandise and assists visitors in purchases after the visit. Cleans up visit areas, including porch and merchandise.
Records donations and purchases on visit sheet.
Deposits donations in lockbox.
Other tasks as they arise.
Skills Needed
Good communication, public speaking, team player, and leadership skills. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills. Situational awareness and ability to command a group.
Abilities Needed
Ability to speak and perform comfortably and enthusiastically to adults, children, and educators.
Enjoy a fast-paced environment and have an ability to adapt to operational changes that may occur.
Must have a passion for working with children and families in addition to animals.
Works well individually and as part of a team.
Ability to lift 25 pounds and willing to work outside and handle the environmental conditions in Florida.
Must be able to pass a background and drug screening.
Experience Needed
Applicant must participate in SWS Visitor Guide, Safety, and Animal Handling courses. Teaching experience preferred but not required. Strong commitment to environmental education and conservation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: Approximately 10 – 15 per week, depending on number of visits.
